AT&T had previously announced they had a goal of bringing 4G LTE to more than 270 million people by the end of the year. While we have yet to get a number update since that goal was announced, the carrier has been making some progress. We saw coverage expanded across nine states earlier in the month and today we have word of coverage coming to an additional 13 markets.

Up for today the coverage includes parts of Alabama, Illinois, Maine, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma and Wyoming. Beginning first with the new coverage for Alabama and we are looking at Tuskegee. Coverage for Illinois includes several markets; Bloomington, Decatur, Normal and Pontiac.

The coverage in Maine includes the Lewiston-Auburn area and the North Carolina coverage touches on Hickory, Jacksonville and Sanford. There was just one new market for Oklahoma, and the good news today is arriving for those in the McAlester area.

Otherwise, the final two places include Puerto Rico and Wyoming. The coverage for Puerto Rico includes Adjuntas and Guaynabo and the Wyoming coverage includes Gillette, Jackson and Sheridan. Aside from the goal of having coverage available for 270 million people by years end, AT&T had announced coverage was available for “nearly” 240 million people and in 400 markets as of mid-September.
