Archos had already talked about plans to unveil several new devices in the remainder of the year and it looks like IFA is going to be the place that will be happening. Basically, it looks like Archos is giving a sneak peek as to what they will be showing during IFA. Coming by way of a recently issued press release, Archos has offered some details on how they plan to use their Android “expertise” to build upon their 3G connected product lines.
In this case they are offering some early details on the Platinum and Xenon line of tablets, several lines of smartphones and even some of what they refer to as the “themed” tablet range. Kicking off with those themed tablets, here Archos will be showing the 80 ChildPad as well as the 101 ChildPad and the GamePad 2. The specs have yet to be detailed, however it was said the ChildPad line will be running Android 4.2.
Some of the tablets they will be showing include the 97b Platinum HD and the 101 XS 2. The Platinum models will have IPS displays up to 2048 x 1536 and be running Android 4.2. The Archos 101 XS 2 will be the new Gen11 tablet and similar to the earlier model, it will arrive with the magnetic keyboard support. The 101 XS 2 will have an HD IPS display, quad-core processor and dual front-facing speakers.
Shifting over to the Xenon range and we learn this will include three tablets. These will be 3G connected devices and they will bring specs to include HD displays, quad-core processors and Android 4.2. Archos also makes a point to mention these will be “cheaper than Apple or Samsung Wi-Fi tablets.”
Finally, we have the smartphones. This will be the Oxygen, Platinum and Titanium lines. All devices in these lines will have a stock Android experience and Google certification. As far as the smartphones go, the Archos 50 Oxygen will be the flagship model. This one will have a Full HD IPS display, quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 16GB of storage, 5 megapixel front-facing camera and 13 megapixel rear-facing camera.
That all being said, while Archos has offered some details, we expect to see plenty more once IFA kicks off.
