Today seems to be a good day for Jelly Bean updates. Earlier today we learned Motorola was rolling-out Android 4.1.2 for the Electrify M and now it looks like the company has an update ready for those in Canada. Specifically, for those carrying the RAZR HD LTE smartphone, which is available with Rogers and Fido.
Simply put, your Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has arrived. Motorola posted the details on their official @Motorola_CA Twitter account which states that the update is “now available.” Those with a RAZR HD LTE will likely want to get it now. If so, grab your handset and navigate to Menu -> Settings – About phone -> Software update to get the process started. Otherwise, sit back and wait for the update notification to arrive.
One point to remember, this update is rolling out in batches which means that it may, or may not be available for your device just yet. As we have come to expect from Jelly Bean — this update means improved notifications along with Google Now, Google Voice Search and the smoothness of Project Butter. The first three are the features that you will see and likely want to take advantage of.
The improved notifications mean (amongst other points), that you will be able to take action directly from the notification shade. Google Now is your virtual assistant and aims at being able to remind you of things you need to do, before you need to do them. Lastly, Google Voice Search allows you to search by voice. This includes simple web searches as well as things that are a bit more involved such as finding a local restaurant, getting a train schedule and much more.
