The incoming Google Nexus smartphone, rumored to be the LG Nexus 4, or the LG Optimus Nexus has just received its most detailed look yet. The popular overseas tech site Onliner.by has been releasing photo after photo of the leaked smartphone over the past few days, but today we’re getting a detailed look of the hardware, software, and everything else. This is basically an early hands-on.
Obviously we’ll want to state that this is clearly an early production unit, and in no way a final product. It also is running an absolutely bare-bones stock Android 4.1.2 version of Android Jelly Bean — and the benchmarks clearly show this to be prototype and unfinished software. However, this is still the most detailed look we’ve seen yet so lets check it out.
The specs have already been confirmed multiple times but we’ll go through them anyways. You’ll be working with a 4.7-inch TrueHD IPS display with a 1280×768 resolution, Android 4.1.2 here (4.2 when released) for the OS, and will be running on Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 Pro 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and what appears to be a rather impressive 8 megapixel camera. At first we were worried they dropped the 13 megapixel unit from the LG Optimus G, but this new lens appears to take amazing photos while keeping the device slim.
We get a quick look at the hardware here and they even compare it to both the popular Galaxy Nexus available now, as well as that iPhone 5 device and its puny screen. Obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt — a large one — as this is not a final product and certainly not final software. The do however confirm the 8GB of storage, no micro-SD slot, as well as show some underwhelming benchmark results. Most likely those will be much improved with final hardware, as well as a fine tuned version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean from Google and LG.

i hate this design, it looks so ugly even when compared to the Gnex, the whole device sounds like a complete bad idea on Googles behalf

Yes you are correct, but judging by the benchmarks, it doesn’t seem to be the beast everyone wants it to be. I’ll just patiently wait for my googorola nexus with Android 5.0 next year.
The phone has not even been officially announced yet. Do you really expect the software to be ready for release?

It is possible there will be different storage options like most phones. Nexus 7 is in 8, 16 and now we heard 32 GB.
Yes you can say no possible way not even for free would I want this device. These specs were to good to be true in the first place. Stock Nexus devices never had specs that were industry leading before. Now all these powerful specs with crappy storage option and non removable battery. These guys at Lg and Google gotta be hi on some kind of drug. Thank god my current Galaxy S3 has 80gb of storage..
it hasn’t even been announced yet, every single nexus device has either came with 8,16 and 32 or just 8 and 16 gb(Nexus 7) This prototype device is 6 months old and why would they put 16 or 32 gb on a prototype ?
We really hope so…options of 16/32/64GB will be greatly welcomed since no SD card slot. Also hope to see a monster battery of 2500mAh since not removable. Upping those two specs will do a lotta good to quiet the grumblings by Nexus/Android faithful who are disappointed by some of the rumored specs and who so badly want to see a complete Nexus device they can be really proud of. All the other rumored specs are top notched, except two…the amount of int storage with or without SD card expansion and removable battery and its size. If Google can address the two, we are good to go.

Nexus devices are all about the software/OS. I thought that would’ve been blindingly apparent when the Nexus S (even with its slightly subpar hardware) was released with 2.3, got every x.x.x update all the way up to the current Jelly Bean (skipping 3.0 of course). Meanwhile, your “bitch slapping” SGSIII released with ICS, still hasn’t gotten Jelly Bean, and if the SI and SII are anything to go by, that’s all you’re going to get. You are one short sighted fellow.

i actually like the way it looks. hopefully there will be options for more than 8GB of storage. The non-removable battery kinda stinks but i don’t think it’s a deal breaker.
The front looks exactly like the iphone5! If its a nexus phone, why is there a “with google”? Shouldnt it just be “Google”?

wow! all you people complaining about the 8GB storage are complete morons! this is a PROTOTYPE! they did the exact same thing with the galaxy nexus and the nexus before that! there is no reason to add high capacity storage for a prototype. Also everyone bitching about the “with google” branding on the back instead of just saying plain “google” they did this with all the nexus prototypes also. Not to mention the first nexus prototype the htc one had an android on the back holding a flag!
