It didn’t take that long, as we suspected. One of those beta testers would probably spurn his account access for the chance to show the world a few precious minutes of gameplay video of the much-hyped and much-awaited Pokémon GO augmented reality (AR) game from Niantic. What we have are 8 minutes plus of good video. Get ready to dive in.

Pokémon GO is slated to launch this summer of 2016, but we have a treat for you guys – an 8-minute video showing a beginner trainer who journeys around his environment and captures his first Pokémon, how the battle mechanics go, and how a player interacts with the world around him to find new Pokémon and items. See the video below.

You will notice from the video that a player can choose to use their device’s camera to see a Pokémon within a real environment backdrop, or they can choose to use the app’s built-in landscape. There are no gameplay changes when you switch from one to the other, but using your phone’s camera will most likely drain your battery faster than choosing the in-app landscape.

From what we see here – at least in the beta – Niantic has seemingly chosen to stick with the original lineup of Pokémon, and we do not (yet) see the endless amount of expansion creatures. If you grew up collecting and fanboying/fangirling the original lineup of Pokémon, this will be exciting for you. Hope more details show up soon!
