The popular live broadcast app Periscope is getting another competitor. Soon, it will be challenged by something developed by YouTube. The livestreaming app isn’t ready yet but YouTube Connect has quite a potential to take on Periscope and even Facebook Live because it’s from YouTube–the top video sharing site in the world today. YouTube Connect will be available on Android and iOS devices but we don’t know when exactly.
There’s no official confirmation yet by Google but the live streaming service is said to be easily accessible just like YouTube Gaming. Just launch the app and you can watch live the channels or other YouTubers streaming videos you follow at the moment. There will be tagging and chat features, as well as, the usual news feed you see when you log into your YouTube account. We’re assuming this is the same as the YouTube Live Broadcast we featured last year.
With YouTube Connect, you don’t only watch live videos. You can also broadcast videos live. The idea isn’t really new because YouTube already offers live streaming through the Creator Studio but access and features are still limited. This YouTube Connect is believed to be a more feature-rich standalone app that will allow people to do live broadcasts easier.
Will YouTube Connect beat Periscope, Meerkat, and Facebook Live? Its entrance into the livestreaming market may be a bit late but we’re sure a lot of YouTube fanatics will be happy with this upcoming app. Let’s wait and see once YouTube launches the new video service.
