Don’t feel bad about Samsung recalling the Note 7. It may mean you won’t be able to get your hands on one soon but you can still avail of a new premium flagship phone. Just choose from either of the two: the Galaxy S7 or the Galaxy S7 edge. Verizon recently rolled out software updates for the two. If you haven’t updated your device yet, check if the new versions are already available. Fully charge the battery first so there won’t be any interruption in downloading the update. Also make sure you are connected to a local WiFi network.
The software builds namely MMB29M.G930VVRU2APG5 and MMB29M.G935VVRU2APG5 deliver a number of benefits like enhancements of HD voice and NextRadio and Barcode Beaming for UPC codes. Drops on HD Voice calls are reduced while those unintentional powering off and restarting have been fixed already, or at least, can be prevented now.
The latest software update now lets you listen to live FM radio on your device. The update enables the FM feature on the phones so you can tune in and enjoy music or listen to the news. Such may not be as popular as music streaming now but there are people who just want to listen to the favorites DJs yak for hours. Your best bet is the NextRadio app which is said to use only minimal data and battery compared to other streaming apps.
The update also brings Barcode Beaming Service and improves the recognition rate any coupon, card, or ticket. As with previous software updates, wait for the OTA notification or check manually in your Settings.
With fingers crossed, applied the update to my S7. Took 25 minutes, 14 of which was optimizing 88 apps. Battery went from 100% to 83%.
Tried the NextRadio app . . . works, Reception about as good as dedicated FM receiver.
