Enough of the bendgate scandals. To test the real strength of a smartphone, drop it in water but not for too long. The newest phones in the market today boast of being all waterproof aside from being dustproof and drop-resistant. Just make sure the phone is really ‘waterproof’ and not just water-resistant lest you want to be this lady in South Africa who wasted $800 on her Sony Xperia Z1 which she used in water.
Watch how this guy tested the Xperia Z3 by pouring Coca-Cola on the phone:
This is not extreme as “Will It Blend?” or bending the phone but pouring liquid on the smartphone can be quite scary for some. I know I never want my phone to stay in water or Coke for too long but such tests will tell us how good the phone is as promised by the manufacturer or if the IP68 rating is true.
Dip the Sony Xperia Z3 in a bowl of Coke and it still works fine. Try it only on your Z3 and not any other smartphone. We can’t guarantee other models will work just fine after being in Coke for a while.
If you’re not satisfied with Coke, how about Nutella?
Errr…why would you slab a lot of Nutella on you phone? This is a test alright but I don’t think anyone would accidentally put a lot of chocolate goo on the phone. Maybe when he’s eating breakfast and playing with a spoonful of Nutella and he drops it on the phone on the table but not drop the whole brick on a jar. Still, this test proves the Sony Xperia Z3 is fine even after all that chocolate covering the whole phone.
The phone appears fine after cleaning it except for the sound according to Adrianisen. But after several clicks, sound seems to be back. So there, the Sony Xperia Z3 passed the Coca Cola and Nutella tests. Who wants a snack?
