Sharp has announced that its Galapagos Android tablets will arrive in Japan on December 10, with the 5.5-inch EB-W51GJ-R/-S priced at 39,800 yen ($475) and the 10.8-inch EB-WX1GJ-B coming in at 54,800 yen ($654). Initially the slates will be paired with an ebook and emagazine download store, but in Spring 2011 Sharp expects to open up video and music downloads to the pair.

Your money gets you a 1024 x 600 display on the smaller units, 1366 x 800 on the larger, complete with an 8GB microSD card in the box and WiFi for browsing. More details in our hands-on.
