We still expect it will be quite some time before Samsung offers any official details on the Galaxy S5, however it looks like the rumor mill is already beginning to churn. A recent report on the Korean language ETnews brings talk of the chassis and production. The talk circles around the handset possibly having a metal chassis.
While a new topic related to the Galaxy S5, this isn’t a new topic when it comes to Samsung. Simply put, this is a rumor that we are taking lightly at the moment. Further details coming from the report also brings talk of some testing that is already underway in Vietnam.
Having a metal chassis could certainly be a way for Samsung to step up in terms of build quality, but that does bring some other potential issues with reception. And it seems Samsung is well aware of that issue. Well, at least according to the details that have been reported thus far.
Shifting to some of the other Galaxy S5 rumors and there was also recent talk of the camera. Details here point towards the handset launching with a 16 megapixel rear-facing camera that has optical image stabilization. One other item to keep in mind, the Galaxy S5 name hasn’t been exclusively tied to these rumors. Instead what we have seen includes talk of this handset launching in early 2014, and following previous timelines would have us looking towards the follow-up to the Galaxy S 4.
That all being said, what we do know at this point is that Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Note III very soon. They have an event scheduled during IFA which takes place next week in Berlin. The specs of the Note III are still unconfirmed, however it is expected to have a 5.68-inch display and a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.
