Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone Quick Look

CES is all over, and it’s been an amazing week for both Verizon and Samsung. Samsung announced their new Samsung 4G LTE Smartphone (official name, for now), and we got to give the device the hands-on treatment!

The phone was incredibly fast, it was one of the most powerful smartphones on the showroom floor, and it definitely was optimized well for both it’s operating system and internal hardware.

Shipping with a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and Froyo 2.2, we can expect the device to be one of the leaders of early 2011, and on into the third and fourth quarters if it receives the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update.

Still officially unnamed, the 4G LTE Smartphone will hit Verizon the first half of this year. Be sure to check out our hands-on video with the unit below.

  • Most powerful?

Wait, how was this one of the most powerful smartphones at CES w/ a 1Ghz Hummingbird? Did you not see the Motorola Atrix, LG Optimus 2x or any of the other Tegra 2 dual core smartphones?

This was “one” of the most powerful. Compared to the LG Revolution and even some Tegra phones, we saw performance slightly better on the Samsung. This will all change once the Tegra 2 Superphones launch and are further optimized for the processor, but from what we’ve seen it was the best “mid/high-grade” on the showroom floor.

    Do want.

Samsung has some trust to build with me. I went out and got the Epic 4G the day it came out (Sept 6?) & was told 2.2 by Oct 15…latest. Still waiting. Much more likely to go with another brand. I’m starting to believe the rumors that Samsung won’t do updates after this model and you’ll have to upgrade your phone to get the new operating systems from now on…

hmm.. a one gigabyte processor and 2 megapixel memory capacity. dude should definitely not be showcasing smartphones
