Pandora is a slick streaming music streaming application on the Internet and it is available on some smartphone platforms as well. Our beloved Android platform is so far not one of those supported platforms.

pandora

A blog post at TomConrad.net says that the Pandora application for Android is now under development. The post says that sometimes plans change, but the next big platform for Pandora should be Android. The Pandora developers say that their ultimate goal is to have all smartphone platforms supported by Pandora.

The post says that Pandora started with the iPhone because of its compelling features and SDK. Windows Mobile and Blackberry devices were next because of their huge volume. The controversial decision to bring Pandora to the Pre came next and was reportedly done to coincide with the initial Pre launch. There is no estimated launch date for the Android app at this time.

  1. Pandora will get no love from me

I'm sticking to last.fm and imeem
  2. more options in the market is always a win...im all for it
  3. Who is having the last laugh now? To hell with pandora ,*******s they are, they think they can talk down on android and make a turn around when its obvious that its got great potential.

Am not gonna touch it with a barge pole even for free....
  4. Yeah, I need this app like I need a hole in the head. Isn't that what Conrad said about android? I've got Last.FM trained just the way I like it, I have no use for this PoS app.
  5. Why so pissed off? People make mistakes, the good news is the app IS coming to Android. And then, in my case, imeem didn't fly with me, last.fm has been simply exhausted after 3-4 tracks (for music I liked). In contrast, Pandora really played a track 'like' the one before, not jumping to a quartet of amateur hair barbers simply because they happened to have the same name as the heavy metal band just played.

And don't forget, I have a Samsung's blu-ray home theater with things like Pandora and Netflix built-in. And love having my stations travel with me from workstation to android cell to a living room.

    So, more power to variety.

Which model is that? I already have a PS3, but wouldn't mind getting another Blu-Ray device for those features, if the price isn't too bad.

Although it's a new model and hasn't had a price drop. Don't worry, *every* Samsung blu-ray device now has netflix + pandora, even those $200-300 models. With wifi and better blu-ray quality on these one can leave PS3 for gaming only.

    HTH,
    Andrew
  8. Whine whine whine, they picked the most popular platforms first...cry me a freakin river...

I can't wait for Pandora on my phone <3

    HTH,

Thanks, I've been thinking about getting a dedicated Blu-ray player, going to look hard at Samsung.
  10. Ummmm why is this top story?
This story is almost as old as Android itself.
Come on folks... lets get some news here please.
