It’s been a little over two years since Kingdom Rush arrived for Android smartphones and tablets with the fire of a thousand hordes of orcs, trolls, wizards, etc. Since then, it has become a an acclaimed tower defense meets action fantasy game that has since led to two other spin-off games. A few months ago it became free to download for Android devices, but today, developer Ironhide Game Studio announced that it will be forever free, and Amazon users will also be able to get it without paying a cent.
If you’re not yet familiar with Kingdom Rush, it’s a strategy game where you have to escape from more than 50 enemies that will attract you, all at the same time. To be able to beat and/or escape them, you would either summon reinforcements, specifically elven warriors or rain fire on your enemies while your troops fight for you.
A lot of people find both the gameplay and the hand-illustrated cartoon graphics engaging enough and so it became a huge success, later on spinning off Kingdom
Rush Frontiers, and then Kingdom Rush Origins. Both also became popular among mobile gamers who love that type of game, but for the developers, of course nothing beats the original.
So if you haven’t played Kingdom Rush yet, you can now get it for free from the Google Play Store. But there’s probably no hurry since they promised it will forever be free.
