My Maps Editor by Google has just been released into the Android Market and not a moment too soon. With this applications users can create, edit, share, and view personalized maps on your Android-powered handset and synchronize them with the My Maps tab on Google Maps.

You can take your desktop maps with you when your on the go and update them every step of the way. With this app you get the full functionality for markers, lines, and shapes on maps. If you wish you can also post geo-tagged photos directly from your phone. No need to upload any changes you have made to your maps, they are synchronized automatically.

You can make good use of having your maps at your side by planning trips, bike rides or even keep track of your road trips. Head over to the Android Market and download this application, then tell us what you use it for.

  1. downloading this now, had to search for it, didn't show up at the top by date for me.

loving these google releases today... i'm anticipating some big things from google soon for android.
  2. why can't i search for a location within this app?

would help when adding markers (i like being able to add markers) just wish i could jump around a bit easier.
  3. I could be wrong, and if I am please inform me if anyone has any experience with this relatively new app. When I heard that this application gave us the ability to "tag" locations I thought that was great because there have been many times where normal maps don't pull up the exact location I'm looking for, and it would be easier for me to just "tag" it so that way I can get directions back to that point at a later time. I suppose I don't understand how this new "my maps" works because the only thing it seems to give us the ability to do is to tag locations, and not get directions to those locations. I guess what I wish they would come out with would be an upgrade to the current Google Maps application that allows us to tag locations and then get directions to those tagged locations. Such as setting up a "Home" location, or if you are following someone to a friends house being able to tag that location so that way you can easily get directions from that location (great if you don't pay attention while following) and then get directions to that location at a later time (perfect for if you have to go back to that house a few months later and have no one to follow.) Along the same lines would be having the ability to track your route that way you can follow the same route back out (helpful in confusing neighborhoods). If this is possible with this app PLEASE let me know, because it would be very helpful, but I guess I'm just not taking full advantage of this new "My Maps" application because I don't fully understand it. Anybody have some answers on this?
  4. wont let u log in if u only have a google apps account.... so thats not very consistent with the rest

Yeah, it's called Garmin Maps. Wait for it.
  7. They'd better add feature to store maps locally on the phone. It would make them load 10 times faster and would not drain money out of yua.
  8. Garmin would, but probably not Google Maps.
  9. I dont see it on the market but I see a couple other apps by Google just posted.

    Was this app pulled?
  10. Exactly the same issue here. Just not seeing it on the Market
  11. I found it.

Goto scorboard/picasa uploader and click "View More Applications" and you'll see all three
  12. Just did that, still only 2 - Scoreboard and Picasa Uploader
  13. Does anyone know if it's possible to sign out of this application?

I signed in with the wrong (old) google account and now I can't change my account details.
I've tried reinstalling it, wiping the data on the SD, even doing a software reboot to clear out the old account details but nothing will shift them.

    ARGH!

Any help will be met with cheers.
  14. I downloaded it just now to my HTC Dream, in Switzerland, and will see what I can do with it. For a start, it saw that it accesses all the tracks I saved with the program MyTracks. I would like to see the coordinates for a waypoint I saved. MyTracks does not seem to offer this.
