Officially, the Motorola Droid’s update to Android 2.2 began on August 3rd. That’s the official statement, but as we’ve seen over the last week, that didn’t necessarily happen as smoothly as Motorola (or Verizon) would have liked. Not surprising at all, though. As we saw today, the OTA update is happening now for the majority of other Droid owners out there, which falls right in line with the whole “roll-out” process.

Thanks to a new image from a Verizon internal source, it looks like the OTA update should stop rolling out to customers on August 18th. So, that’s one more week, from today. That may be good news for Droid owners as a whole, but if you haven’t already received your update, and we’re sure you’re still checking like crazy, then knowing that you may have to wait up to a week to get it could be a bit disheartening. Then again, it’s only a week — right?
