Lotus Notes Traveler hits Android

Lotus Notes Traveler hits Android

If you are a big IBM Lotus Notes fan, you will be thrilled to hear that the company is launching Lotus Notes Traveler 8.5.2.1. The major new addition in this update is support for mail, calendar, and contacts on the Android OS.

To use the app your device needs to be running Android 2.x at least and it will run on tablets and mobile phones. Other caveats to use the new Android app are Notes Traveler servers have to be running 8.5.2 to support Android. That software also keeps the device software up to date automatically.

The real suck of the announcement is that the app can’t be installed on any Android devices on the AT&T network since AT&T only allow apps to install directly from the Android Market. Those using the beta version will have to uninstall and reinstall the final version.

Good idea tinkertron, we’ll have a look at how we can make links more
      consistent across articles.

This app is available from IBM and it requires that an Lotus Traveller Server is setup upfront

I’m at our corporate “traveler” server site, apparently logged in correctly ( it ID’ed me fine), it ID’ed the OS, as android, and i go to the downloader page, select to download the android version, and consistently “unsuccessful download”.
I’m using htc desire with android 2.2, and enabled download apps from other sites. – but no succesful download.
server site reports as 8.5.2.1 build. local lotus notes on PC reports as 8.5.2

    suggestions ?

    • Shyam

yes, absolutely…switch on the wifi…download LotusInstaller.apk and install it.  You need to your Domino Server name etc.
