The smart home age has just began. Together with virtual reality (VR), expect this industry to expand as more and more manufacturers and service providers are starting to innovate and release their own products. One of the easiest ways to “join” the trend is IFTTT. It is one of the more convenient ways to program services and trigger special commands.

Finally, the South Korean tech giant joins the bandwagon by opening their mobile devices to work as triggers. This move means other services are also now allowed to initiate several sofware and hardware features on the device. There’s the LG Smartphone Channel now ready to accessed and connect to. If you have an IFTTT account you can sign in and connect a device to the LG channel. Once connected, you are free to do different things like send stats to Google Sheets or play music.

There are also other services included as part of the community that you can use or connect to. Right now, it only works for the LG V10 but we’re expecting it to be ready of the LG G5 as well. There are several recipes in every channel that can be useful to trigger features on the device. LG has prepared the following recipes initially:

• Start playing music when you plug in your headphones
• Auto-upload new videos to your IFTTT album
• Track your daily exercise achievements in a Google Spreadsheet
• Activate NFC when you enter a specific location
• Tweet your exercise goal achievements
• Auto-post your exercise achievements on Facebook

Triggers include: (1) Earphones plugged in, (2) Connected to a specific bluetooth device, (3) Specific alarm starts to ring, (4) New photo taken, (5) New video taken, (6) New screenshot, (7) Daily exercise goal achieved, and (8) New contact added.

As for the Actions, the IFTTT can turn Wi-Fi on or off, turn bluetooth on/off, NFC on or off, create a memo in Qmemo+, add photo to album, and add video to album.
