Sprint has just announced via its official forums that a maintenance update for HTC Hero owners will begin to rollout today. Bringing in a few fixes, it’s a welcome update, especially when we won’t be seeing anything beyond 2.1 for the device.
With just a few fixes, the update includes the following:
• Correct a non-customer impacting issue (device diagnostics)
• MMS issue with contact number format
• Updated Sprint Zone application
To update your device:
• Go to All Applications
• Tap Settings > About Phone > System Updates > HTC Software Update
• Select Check Now
• Follow the on-screen instructions to download the update
The update will take about 5-10 minutes to download, followed by another 5-10 minutes to install and will bring your current software up to 2.32.651.2.
That photo’s a HTC Magic, not a Hero. I know they are close, but still…
The image above is the HTC Hero as seen in our initial unboxing video of the unlocked device.

I beg to differ. I have seen many Hero phones, and they don’t look like that. I own one.
That plain white box in the video? That’s a Magic.
(Internally, they are very similar phones, but externally they are not.)
See this site. Magic on the left, Hero on the right.

Nix that link; not really what I was looking for.
I’m afraid you have the 2 devices mixed up. If you google search “HTC Hero,” you will find that the Hero is the squared off device, and the Magic is the more rounded handset.

Ok, forget everything I said. Apparently the Sprint Hero is different from the regular HTC Hero. Weird that I never noticed before…
