Like most people, I am not a big fan of online advertising that gets in the way. I especially hate the types of ads that pop up on screen when you try to click through to content you want to read. I can understand that ads are needed to make the money to support a site, but I don’t have to like them.

I’m not sure if it’s good news or not, but Google has announced that AdSense is now available for Android and the iPhone. The ads will allow developers of applications to make money off their apps based on website content.

Enrollment for the program is available through the Google AdWords program and the software automatically displays the highest paying ads on each app. Ads are targeted by keyboard. In short, the program appears to work just like website ads, only they show up on apps for the iPhone and Android.

  1. Lame. But, business is business.
  2. Totally NOT lame!
  3. What phone is that?

Isn't that the prototype Android/Google Phone?

    It's the HT?23G700457!

    looks like a blackberry
  5. I had no idea that phone ever actually existed. I thought it was just a skin they made up for the QVGA emulator in the Android SDK.
  6. It's a TI OMAP phone probably OMAP 1240 processor. It was the phone I thought was going to come out first back in 2006.
  7. Bah! Download the adblocking software from the market.

Personally I think all bandwidth used by the ads shouldn't be counted against our monthly bill.
