Google’s Android team may be busy doing a round-up of the best and popular apps, games, and other media files being downloaded from the Play Store but AVG has just released the Top 10 Draining Apps for the 3rd quarter of 2015. The data include more than a million devices from all over the world, showing which apps consume the most data volume, storage, and battery life.

It’s no secret that batteries used on mobile devices haven’t changed as much. Battery technology has not improved yet the past years. We only see them get bigger but with all the other components and technologies being used on each new model, battery drains faster than ever. Don’t worry, scientists are already working on it. We just hope that overheating detection “system”, super fast charging batt, lithium-air, and the low-cost battery made using silicon will turn out to be successful.

The AVG Android App Report Q3 2015 includes a number of other lists including the Top Apps Run at Startup and by Users, Top Games, World’s Greediest Mobile Apps, Top Storage Hogs, and Top Ten Data Traffic Hogs but we’re focusing our attention on the Top Ten Battery Drainers.

According to AVG, the top battery drainers can be categorized into two: Apps the Run at Startup and Apps that are Run by Users.

Top Ten Battery Drainers Run at Startup

Leading the pack is the Android Firmware Updater followed by the Beaming Service for Samsung, Security Policy Update, ChatON (Voice & Video Chat), Google Play Services, Facebook, BBM, WhatsApp Messenger, Weather & Clock Widget Android, and WeChat. These apps run automatically at startup.

Top Ten Battery Drainers Run by Users

Top Battery Drainers run by users is topped by Samsung WatchON (Video), Snapchat, Amazon Shopping UK, Microsoft Outlook, BBC  News, Netfllix, Line, Clean Master (Boost & AppLock), Walmart, and Amazon Shopping (Global). It’s interesting that the UK version of Amazon Shopping drains faster than the global version. We don’t know what’s there or not there on the UK app.
