Last week all those lucky Transformer tablet owners learned that they’d be getting the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to end the week and over the weekend. Sadly that only turned out true for the Transformer Prime, while the Transformer Pad Infinity (TF700T) update was delayed. Today though the update is rolling out in full force.

For unknown reasons ASUS updated their budget friendly TF300 first, then the Transformer Prime to the absolute latest version of Android, which is 4.1 Jelly Bean. After the formal announcement ASUS later confirmed the Infinity would be delayed until this week, but it’s already available now and apparently started hitting users tablets over the weekend.

For those that don’t own this awesome tablet. It now rocks the latest version of Android to go along with that awesome 10-inch 1920 x 1200 truly 1080p HD display, an 8 megapixel rear camera, front HD camera for video chat, and of course can use ASUS’ popular keyboard dock for even more options.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean brings Google Now voice search, project butter UI enhancements and performance improvements, general stability improvements, and Google’s Chrome browser should also work much better too. We all should know plenty about Jelly Bean, so accept that over-the-air update or head to settings > about tablet > check for updates to pull down the latest firmware right from ASUS. Enjoy that Jelly Bean folks!

    • Downloaded it 3 hours ago onto the Infinity. Took about 15 minutes and it’s looking good. No problems yet and things do feel smoother. Think I will have to wait a couple of days to judge Google Now as it has to get to know me but so far so good 🙂

  1. just got me some jelly bean loving and its pretty darn awesome….ive been playing with it for like a half hour and can already see a decent difference.

  2. Just downloaded mine it took about 10 mins and the speed is really noticeable, it feels snappier and more responsive. No bugs yet that ive noticed and i hope i dont notice any.Great update!

  3. Update to 4.1 bricked my infinity. Tablet was OS encrypted, not sure if that made any difference. During the upgrade, after inputting my password, it sat at the Asus loading screen forever. No biggie, went back to Best Buy and got a brand new TF700. Do over!

  4. So far so good. I updated the day it came out. I didn’t notice a huge increase in speed it already was fast but I did notice that there have been no more annoying app crashes. Like when playing Draw something or even Shadowgun the screen would randomly lock up and flicker. In the past I had to cold boot to fix this problem. Since the update it has run smooth without any problems yet. I like the google now function since I have it setup to update me on my favorite teams and it constantly updates me on my travel time home so I can leave work when I notice a small backup on the route home. Good job Asus keep it up. There is no perfect OS but this is getting MUCH better!
