Hugo Barra director of product management her at Google has just jumped on stage here at Google IO for their day one keynote. Right off the bat talking about momentum, numbers, and of course the much rumored Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

No more waiting or rumors. Although we knew it was coming with the Jelly Bean statue arriving yesterday at Google's HQ, but this makes it truly official. Today they have tons to talk about with Jelly Bean. The first thing was project butter. This was their initiative to make Android 4.1 smooth as "butter."

They've added triple buffering, improved touch responsiveness and tons of other things with project butter. Looks like I'll need to go buy some butter popcorn flavored Jelly Belly's real fast. We'll continue to update as the news drops so stay tuned.
