is there a difference between the ota 1.5 cupcake and the 1.5 jf version cause i heard that the ota version has bluetooth file tranfering but my phone doesnt seem to have that.

I've had my cupcakes for a week now..... and I'm loving it!

I've got the UK Cupcake, because I got tired of waiting. Got all stuff I need to flash back to RC29 and update all the way to RC33 from there so I can get the US Cupcake if I don't get the OTA. I assume I won't get it.

I think the news here goes through one of those 1990s style "when we feel like it" filters... Every G1 owner I know had it before it was posted here.

Are the admins even G1 owners anymore? I know all of the startup staff for the site jumped ship after launch... then the news came down dropping now to I think just when they're bored enough to copy and paste some andblog or engadget... You have to take this community sheerly for its members now, not at all as a news source...

Is it possible to get the Cupcake update on WiFi, without being on T-Mobile? I am no longer with T-Mobile due to lack of coverage in the area I just moved to, but have the G1 still and have WiFi on. I'd like to try and see the new features.

just got the ota update. pretty cool so far. small changes to the UI. small changes to the sms, call log - can change setting to auto rotate without installing ahome or open home, new calendar and music widget, on-screen keyboard, some changes to the browser (new tabs - history and most visited)....i'm pretty sure there's more but i'll have to play around with it more.

Two G1s in our house and neither have the update yet.

In the Pacific Northwest and I'm also waiting on my cupcake. Hopefully it happens before I head out of country next week.

And yes, I know I could download it and will if it's not pushed to me by time I leave. But for company reasons I'm waiting on the OTA to make sure it is 100% T-Mobile.

Thanks for the feedback (and I'm not being sarcastic, honestly). The startup staff - Vincent, Ewdi and myself - are still around, though we're all stretched across the various sites we run. It's proved tricky to find consistent, dedicated writers to give you guys the front-page content you deserve, and that's something we're still working on. We definitely have a lot of love for our AC members and we're always keen to hear how you think we can improve the site, even if it's not something we can logistically implement at that point in time.

What I would say is that if you see something - in the forum here or elsewhere - that you think should be on the AC frontpage, let us know. The tips page is linked up at the top (http://androidcommunity.com/send-tips/). Unfortunately I just don't have as much time as I'd like to spend here, reading through your posts.

I got my update yesterday.

I'm Altanta, GA got my cupcake yesterday around 2:30pm after rebooting becuase my G1 was being sluggish, and I am loving it the phone is 10x better! I'm loving the bluetooth stereo!

If you haven't gotten yours yet try rebooting.

No cupcake for me here in Gresham, OR. Hopefully I get it today!!

I have been randomly checking my phone now/rebooting for the past 2 weeks lol....still just waiting I guess.

i was told by numerous t-mobile reps that the update is being sent out depending on when you purchased the phone...so be patient its coming i just got mine

mine came in about 6-7 hours ago.

8:20 AM Eastern Time I woke up and was being asked to install. I went to bed at 1 am last night...so in that time Cupcake was delivered.

Keep in mind, guys, if you go ahead and jump to the uk version without waiting for the OTA you will have to do this in the future for every OTA that T-mobile sends you...
Also, btw, you have voided your warranty. Hope you don't encounter one of the several known issues with that phone that would need an exchange :/

Saturday morning, 5/30, in Southern California and I haven't been served my cupcake yet.

My wife just showed me her phone and she can get the update. She said it started this morning. I still dont have it yet. Oh well. Were in Ohio.

The only negative is that the battery seems to be draining alot faster.

i got the update about a week ago and am loving it, especially the keyboard/auto rotate function. never have to flip open the physical keyboard again!

My Co-Worker got the update yesterday but I dont have it yet

My co worker just informed me that he got his cupcake this morning, and I pre ordered my G1 and he just got his a month ago!!!!! That just don't seem right and pisses me off!!!!!!

I really wish someone who do an extensive step by step how-to for these cupcakes...I am brain dead and far too challenged to try and yet I read and read and learn but I aint gonna try,lol...

I posted on the other thread in getting the update OTA. I got my cupcake update officially last Thursday morning at 1230am Pacific time, here near Los Angeles, Ca. I recently purchased my G1 about a month ago.

Where does it tell me if I have gotten the update???

Finally got it for real. Think I'm the first to post this info. Firmware is 1.5 and build number is CRB43. This is what we've been waiting for its got everything we've wanted.going to church. Will give more details later. Got it last night sometime. It was on my phone when I woke up(the update message).

Gonna try to get pics up after church. Guys this is for real. Doubt tmobile no more cuz it is here. This is so sweet. Glad I'm the first to actually post the build number that's a real build number

clearwater fl, got mine this morning. we have 3 g1's in the family, wife and daughter did not get the update yet.

two of the phones were purchased and turned on at the same time. the third was 2 months later.

Mine is installing now, it was waiting for me when I woke up.

I got mine last night. (Boston MA). I went to system update in the settings menu and it was ready for download. Check there maybe it is available for those who have not received it yet.

I've been doing system update for past 3 days so that does nothing for me. Why are they rewarding the late comers and the pre orders are last call.

I TOO pre ordered mine!!!- how is it that WE pre order a phone and we are the last to get it? Shouldn't there be like a special "pre ordered customer list" so WE can get the first batch of EVERYTHING lol.

(San Diego)Got my update a couple days ago. I love it..one problem though. I was having some problems with my bluetooth in my car. It is a built in bluetooth. It would sync but people would not be able to hear me and there was alot of static. Long story short. I took it into TMOBILE and they exchanged it for a new fone. When i tried it in the car again before runnign OTA update again it worked fine. Then tmobile sent me the OTA update for the new fone and the bluetooth is having the same problems with the 1.5. Has this happened to anyone please let me know what I can do to solve this problem. Good news is I did get a new phone out of it for no charge. for those of you who got the OTA, are any of you guys experiencing problems with charge time being really long and the battery status being stuck or not showing the right percentage?

My wife's G1 got the update here in Phoenix, AZ at 11am this morning. My phone is still under the 'no dice' category, but I have hope...

The update is pretty good overall, took about 10 minutes from start to finish.

I just got the cupcake today....really cool and very happy with it...love the camcorder and the improvements with the camera....would be nice to have higher volume but all together, a great cupcake....Thank you

Just got the cupcake update this morning.
Located in Edwardsville, Illinois...25 min. from St. louis, MO.

The Camcorder (video recording) feature is cool. Simple...push button to record, push button to stop recording...then save or delete. It works well.

The onscreen keyboard is nice. Don't know how much I'll be using it though. I prefer they QWERTY keyboard.

Creating folders on the desktops will come in handy...will help me free up space and group similar items together.

Some graphical changes, some nice...some not as much. I'd rather have the black theme of the calendar back.

I got the 1.5 notification this morning. We live outside of Phoenix, Arizona. Had to abort the install the first time ("Install Later") because I had 10% battery left. Turned off the phone, came to the office, turned it back on and got the update available notification again. Installed without issue.

I can finally deploy my own app on a phone other than my ADP1, huzzah!

Friend of mine just got the ota cupcake update this morning. I looked at it and looks great but I am staying with my rooted version with zoom on camera and video camera plus exchange for emails. From Bend, Oregon

Ok sow do I know if I got the update. I got one yesterday and it gave me a camcorder but that's the only change I have seen. How do I get the screen keyboard and stuff. Maybe I haven't got it yet but it sounds like its going out all over the place. So how do I check on that? =)

you should also have stereo Bluetooth, and the ability to set it to autorotate the orientation which is in the settings. There are numerous other fixes and enhancements.

Co-irker just informed me that he, too, has received his 1.5 update. Looks like Phoenix, Arizona is being covered.

I received Cupcake during the night and this morning I installed it. Went fine, phone restarted, and now I think I have a problem. After the restart I have a notification that "the SD card is being checked for errors". This has been going on for more than 2 hours now. The card remains unavailable while this is going on. I never had problems with the SD card before. It's the card that came with the phone. Has anyone else had this problem? And if so, what did you do about it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx
