You might not know much about the mobile technology company Alcatel One Touch, but they’ve been making a few low end Android smartphones in the recent past and are about to break into the mainstream. We’ve mentioned them very briefly before with phones sporting a Palm Pre form factor or partnering with Archos, but today we have a few pictures of their newest Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone — the Alcatel 995.

This French company and OHA member plans to bring their higher end Android smartphones to more users, and even get into the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich game. We don’t know much about their latest plans, or the 995 but it sure looks nice. The Alcatel 995 is said to sport a 4.3″ high resolution display, an unknown 1.4 GHz processor (no details on single or dual-core), a 5 megapixel camera with flash and 1.3 front for video chat. Their latest designs look similar to HTC and have excellent build quality while remaining rather lightweight.

Alcatel is currently working on their own custom UI using the 3D carousal seen in the image above, much like the popular SPB Shell 3D interface already available in the Android Market. It is currently running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread but they plan to integrate the newest 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sometime next year. Alcatel One Touch plans to offer great phone at a very competitive price and so far I’m really liking what I see with the new Alcatel 995 shown here. Hopefully we here more details and will see the 995 hit the US markets soon.
