Acer Android/XP netbook coming next month says source

Worth Reading?

NoYes

We have talked before about the number of major computer makers that are looking at putting Android onto their netbook computers. Among those considering Android are HP, Asus, Dell, and Acer.

androidnetbook

According to a Chinese newspaper called Apple Daily the Acer dual booting netbook is set to hit in August. The rig will run Windows XP and Android and you can count on the machine costing more than the typical Acer netbook.

The reason is that the machine will still have to cover the cost of XP and the cost of configuring Android. I hope that the cost won’t put the machine outside of what the average shopper is willing to pay. The same paper also claims that Asus and MSI will have Android-powered netbooks soon.

  1. Ayeee this sucks because this month I might grab an Asus Eee 1000HA
  2. Hmm, however tempting, I still like the Asus eee 1008ha more.

I must admit i'm kinda of looking forward to dual booting android on my eee... but not running that live cd that doesn't interest me at all.
  6. What is going to be the big deal about an Android Notebook? Google is making its own and then it has Android doing its own thing too? Particuarly from that Live dic running Android...So my start menu that has everything on it will just become an app drawer? What about documents? And what will be the benifit of running an ANdroid p.c. compared to a phone?

And more importantly will notebooks be rootable/support parititons and other such things we use for our g1s?

[plenty of spelling errors sorry, lazy today.]
  7. I actually am not one hundred percent sure why i want android on my netbook, that's part of the reason i want to try it out. To see if it is something i find useful, i feel the same way about chrome os (although that should be more full featured.)

as for saving files, that's why i want it dual booted and not running off a live cd, so i could change settings and such.
