This isn’t the first time the ZTE Z998 smartphone has been spotted. An image leaked back in early June that had the handset dubbed the Mustang and sporting AT&T branding. We have yet to see an announcement from AT&T, however the handset has recently been spotted on the ZTE website. This time around the handset still has the AT&T logo.

In addition, it is has dropped the Mustang codename and is simply being referred to as the ZTE Z998. Aside from the AT&T branding in the images, the ZTE website also clearly has this listed as heading towards AT&T. The carrier has yet to say when the device will be available. Or for that matter, whether it will be arriving as a prepaid or postpaid device. Nonetheless, as this has been listed on the ZTE website we now have an official set of specs.

The ZTE Z998 will arrive with a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 and powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz MSM8930 processor with 1GB of RAM. The handset also has 4GB of storage space, a microSD card slot, 2070 mAh battery, 1 megapixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash and 720p video recording.

There will also be the basics such as WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. ZTE will also have the Z998 running Jelly Bean. Though, it will be Android 4.1. Otherwise, while the specs are not super high-end, the handset will arrive with support for the LTE network. With that in mind, given the detailing on the ZTE website, it seems the Z998 should receive an official welcoming from AT&T sooner rather than later.
