A few days ago, YouTube announced that they will be launching a subscription service wherein you pay a monthly fee to enjoy watching your videos without constant advertising interruptions. Well as of today, this is now a real thing (not that we doubted them before of course) as YouTube Red is now live and accepting ad-hating subscribers who spent a lot of time browsing through the video sharing site. Plus, you also get to enjoy a subscription to Google Play Music at no extra cost.
The idea of an ad-free YouTube tremendously appeals to us. But would people be willing to pay just to be able to enjoy browsing through all the cat videos and Vevo music videos for that amount? Google is sure hoping so, and so they’re adding a few more perks if you subscribe. You’ll be able to save videos so you can watch them offline (wonder if they’re removing that feature from the free YT though). And if you just like listening to the audio while you’re doing something else, you can now do so as it will still play in the background even if you’re using another app.
And of course, in case you were wondering if you had to pay one subscription for every device that you use, of course not. You’ll be able to access the perks of a paid subscription whether you’re on your desktop, tablet, connected TVs, smartphones, and soon, even with their upcoming music app and the recently launched Gaming app. Eventually, they will also be releasing original content like series and movies from famous YouTube creators.
You’ll need to pay $9.99 per month for YouTube Red, which is pretty standard for most subscription services nowadays. Plus, you get Google Play Music as well, and vice versa, if you already have a subscription to the music streaming service. If you want to try it out, there’s a 30-day free trial. But if you live outside the US, sorry to say that for now, Red is for US-based users only.

So because I was paying for unlimited music, I just get no ads on youtube as well?
In the world of financial decisions, getting google play music while the sub was only 8 bucks was the best financial decision I’ve ever made. Thanks Google!
Shit I could do all of this now for free. Next!!
