If you’re one of those who leaves a YouTube playlist streaming on your device or desktop while working or studying or reading, then the newest update from the video network might make you dance like Taylor Swift in Shake It Off (Hi Spotify). The app will now make it easier for you to look for your favorite songs (and even albums) from your favorite artists, and will now even offer a streaming subscription service. Just think of it as Google Play Music but with videos.

Your YouTube home page will now feature music videos and recommended playlists, based on what you usually search for or the channels that you subscribe to. So if your younger sister uses your account to constantly search for One Direction videos (or if you “forced” her to do so), then boy bands’ and reality show winners’ music will probably show up in your home feed. The curated playlist has somehow replaced our desire to create “mixed tapes”, or at least for those who are too lazy to do so. YouTube will also now bring you those kinds of playlists, depending on your mood (depressed, peppy, Throwback) or where you’re listening to it (at the gym, in bed, working).

You’ll also now be able to find artists’ entire discography on YouTube and play their official music videos or high-quality songs (from their official music partners) if they don’t have an accompanying video for the other songs. And yes, they will also be offering YouTube Music Key beta, a streaming subscription so you can watch/listen to all the songs you want, without ads and even if you’re using another app or you put your device on locked screen mode or even if you’re offline.

YouTube Music Key beta will be offered for $9.99 a month and will also include a subscription to Google Play Music, if you just feel like listening and not watching. But as their initial bonus, they will be offering the service at a discounted rate of $7.99 per month, but did not indicate up to when this discount will be. So if you just want to try out the other non-subscription features, the update should be rolling out from the Google Play Store in the next few hours or days.
