After a quick hands-on feature comes an extensive review of the YOGA Tab 3 Pro. The latest Lenovo tablet unveiled at the IFA 2015 in Berlin last September, was the subject of rumors before the official launch and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, we noted that it’s a great device with its strong multimedia flavor that can beam display to a nearby surface. It’s more of a tablet-multimedia-center-and-mini-projector-in-one gadget.
The Lenovo YOGA Tab 3 Pro has placed entertainment front and center. Specs are considered premium but making this a clear winner really is the projector–making it your first tablet-projector. It’s something many of us have been imagining before but Lenovo beat us to make the idea into reality. We’re guessing more OEMs will join the portable projector band wagon because it’s something that can be useful.
The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro isn’t like any other Android tablet. It’ not really flat as there’s a huge hinge on one side that actually functions as the handle and a kickstand to prop up the device when you need it to just stand. Grips seems solid when held. You are free to adjust the hinge to any angle. On each side of the hinge, you will find a button that turns the power on/off and the other one controls the projector. As we noticed before, there are four speakers by JBL. For high quality audio all the time, there’s also the Dolby ATMOS technology.
The tablet-slash-project from Lenovo boasts of a 10.1-inch Smart Display panel, 2560 x 1600 QHD resolution, Intel Atom x5-Z8500 2.24GHz chipset, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, 16GB on-board storage, microSD card slot for expansion, 2GB RAM, 13MP main camera, 5MP front-facing cam, and 10,200mAh battery. The tablet also comes with a 2A fast charger. The tablet looks robust and it sure is ready for some splashes of water. With it’s IP21 rating, you don’t have to worry about the Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet getting wet.
Lenovo has also added the ‘AnyPen tech’ on this model so you can use anything as a stylus. Device runs Android 5.0 Lollipop. You’ll immediately notice Material Design all over. Battery is long lasting you can watch a complete movie and another TV episode on a single charge with some more remaining.
The Lenovo Yoga 3 tablet’s projector is good. Not that great but good enough at 50 lumens. Don’t expect this one to beat the bigger projectors you’ve used because it’s really just a simple projector. It can display images up to 70-inches on a surface. It is recommended to be in a dark room so you can make the most of the device.
It’s best to set your expectations so we’re saying as early as now to not expect much from the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3. A tablet projecting the images or videos on its own is remarkable. No need to bring a separate projector if you need to make a presentation.
Lenovo’s $499 YOGA Tab 3 Pro is one exciting tablet. It’s the first to have a projector that can beam images for whatever purposes. It’s more than a tablet and projector combined. It’s an ultimate media mobile device that can be considered very functional. It can also mirror your screen. You need a tablet? Use the YOGA Tab 3 Pro. You need a portablet projector? Use the YOGA Tab 3 Pro again.

I have plans on purchasing this tablet, however, I’m a bit confused.
On their website’s spec sheet, it mentions it comes with a SIM Slot, which is what I want but have never seen any unboxing video/blog review mention the SIM Slot. Which is what confuses me, is the model with SIM Slot not out yet? Or discontinued before production?
