Yelp has announced an update to their Android app, bringing the functionality of publishing reviews from your mobile device to your mobile device. Noting that “the stars have aligned” for this update, and acknowledging it’s long past due, the Yelp team is ready for the reveal.
Before this update, users had to turn to the web to publish reviews. It was possible to write a review on your device within the app, but not publish it. Now, you can write, publish, and include pictures — all from your Android app.
If you do end up snapping a few pics of the place, or whatever you’re enjoying within, you can include those as well. They’ll now show up right under your written review, for all the world to see. Yelp also notes that if you want to see pictures of a restaurant, they can be accessed via swiping down from the top of the page. So, if you’re checking out a restaurant and want to see what seating is like, swipe down from the top. Hopefully someone has taken a pic that will help.
The update is available now, so head on over to the Play Store and grab Yelp if you don’t already have it. It has a 4.4 rating overall, and reviewers seem to really enjoy the update. It definitely solves one of the more frustrating issues with Yelp in mobile reviews, and the new picture reference is great.
