Yahoo Messenger is still alive. Yes, that sentence isn’t from the year 2000 and yes, it is true. Despite the recent Verizon Wireless buyout of for the Internet assets of Yahoo, some of their products are still alive and kicking and that includes the original messaging app. The original, legacy version has been replaced by the more modern app of course, and that includes constant updates including the latest one that lets you send videos in your chats.
The latest update to the Android app is that you can now send videos in your chats, whether you’re talking to just one person or you’re in a group chat. Okay, obviously, this isn’t something new as other messaging apps like Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, etc have this feature already, but for Yahoo Messenger users, this is pretty useful. You would have to keep the videos short though, under one minute, in order to be able to send it.
Sending one through your chat is pretty easy, just like you would send a picture. Just tap on the gallery picker in your chat and then choose from those that are saved on your device’s gallery. It seems that you won’t be able to take a video from the dialog box itself unlike with some messaging apps, but probably Yahoo will add that feature eventually.
Overall it’s been a tough road for Yahoo of course, and we still don’t know what Verizon has planned for them eventually. In the meantime, they are just focusing on developing their apps, and hopefully, their Yahoo Messenger still has some loyal and even new users.
