When you think Yahoo Mail, you probably don’t automatically think, “Wow, what a gorgeous looking app!” It hasn’t had a very good reputation when it comes to the app’s design and even usability. But now they are trying to turn things around and give loyal users something to sing about in its latest update. You can now choose from various color themes to make your smartphone app a little bit prettier. Plus, there are also some minor improvements that may make using the app a bit easier.

If what you like about an email app is that you’re able to customize how it looks like, then you might want to see what Yahoo has brought to the updated app. You can now choose from among 11 different custom color themes, including green, blue, orange, purple, gray, etc. You can even choose a different color for each of your connected apps (Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, AOL) so you won’t get confused. You can even choose to lighten or darken the color theme background depending on your mood or personality.

Other new features that come with the update may also be helpful for users. You can rename your accounts now simply by long pressing it and then changing the name. Same goes with folders. Just long press to rename or delete and you can even create subfolders as well. If you receive a photo on your email, you can preview or save it just by tapping on it. You can also now enable your stars so you can see them in your inbox or other message lists.

While some may still not be convinced to abandon Gmail or Outlook, those who have been on Yahoo will be the ones to benefit most from the update. Version 5.3 of Yahoo Mail for Android is now rolling out to users.

  1. After quite sometime, I gave Yahoo Mail a try. But its shittier than it used to be before Gmail era. So much clutter, so much spam, no unified UI. I never go back to it, ever. Thanks Yahoo!
