If you own a Xiaomi Mi 4, Mi 3, or Mi Note from the Chinese OEM, we have good news for you. The global beta ROM 6.3.17 for the MIUI has just been released. The roll out isn’t region-centric or country-specific so anywhere you are in the world, you can download the latest software update. Devices running MIUI 5.12.17 will be upgraded directly to MIUI 6.3.17 but if you run an older version, you will need to get the Lollipop-based version first.
Check the Updater app on your Xiaomi phone and see if you’re updated. If other version is installed, flash the update first using Fastboot. Just make sure you backup your data first and follow the instructions correctly. Download Fastboot files for the Xiaomi Mi 3/Mi 4 and Mi Note
This Android M-based update will bring several new features including a new account lock after flashing your phone in Mi Cloud-Find device. The Permission Manager also now allows creation of a home screen shortcut, as well as, restrict access to a specific permission with just one click.
The MIUI Global Beta ROM 6.3.17 also adds shortcuts to hidden folders and downloads inside Explorers. You’ll also notice a card design and device-to-device wireless transfers in Explorer. Improvements and optimizations of some features are also noticeable. As usual, a lot of bugs and errors on messaging, lockscreen, notification, and status bar reported have already been fixed.
