Finally and officially, the Mi Note 2 we’ve been anticipating since forever is ready. As promised and teased, the new Mi Note is announced as the newest flagship device. At a recent tech event held in Beijing, the smartphone is shown off with front and black 3D curved glass display. It’s something like the S7 edge but the curved edges are from the front extending to the back. It’s more of a two-sided curved design according to the Chinese OEM.

The latest flagship device will be available in not one or two but rather three variants. A 6GB RAM plus 128GB storage version will be ready for 3,399 CNY. That’s around $500. The smaller 4GB RAM plus 64GB model will be CNY 2,799 ($414) while another one will have the same 6GB RAM and 128GB storage but as a Global Edition.

The Mi Note 2 is currently up for pre-order in China but don’t worry as the Global Edition model will soon be available in key Samsung markets around the world. Choose from either the Glacial Silver or Piano Black version.

As we mentioned in past leaks, the Xiaomi Mote Note 2 will boast of a 5.7-inch screen, 1080 x 1920 Full HD display, 2.35GHz quad-core Snapdragon 821 Performance Edition SoC, and a 4070mAh battery. Like most flagship models, this one features Quick Charge 3.0 technology, fingerprint sensor, and a premium camera system like the 23MP rear camera with Sony IMX318 sensor and 8MP selfie camera with Sony IMX268 Exmor RS sensor. Phone is also capable of 4K video recording and stabilization.

The other features of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 include Mi Pay, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB Type-C, GPS, and Aqstic audio processor for a more impressive high audio quality. Item will be available in November.

Xiaomi also introduced the Mi VR. This product is another entry into the VR headset game. It’s not a standalone device as it needs some Mi phones to work. Xiaomi has thrown in a 9-axis inertial motion controller to come with it. Popular Mi phones like the Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5S, and Mi 5s Plus will be compatible with the Mi VR.

Inside the Xiaomi Mi VR is a hardware level motion sensor with 16ms latency. It’s a VR headset companion that’s priced at only $29. It’s pretty cheap which means more people will be able to experience virtual reality.
