Xiaomi is anticipated to release a new Android smartphone but it’s not a new Redmi or the Mi 5C as we speculated earlier. The company has recently introduced another phablet in the form of the Xiaomi Mi Max Prime. This one is a new variant announced in celebration of the Diwali festival in India. The Mi Max was launched in India only last July but it was announced earlier in China back in May.
This Mi Max Prime is obviously an amped version. The Snapdragon 650 has been replaced with the S652 while the RAM is now 4GB from the previous 3GB. Onboard storage increased to 128GB. That’s really impressive because the original Mi Max only has 32GB of built-in memory.
Other specs include a 6.44-inch display screen, 1080p resolution, 16MP main camera, 5MP front-facing camera, and a huge 4850mAh battery that promises a long battery life. Phone runs Android Marshmallow 6.0 with MIUI 7 and supports dual SIM connectivity.
The new Android phone-tablet will cost RS19,999 in the country which is about $299 in the US. That’s still within the mid-range category and it’s a very good deal considering you have 128GB of storage space already. Smartphone will be available on Mi.com beginning October 17.
