Xiaomi has rolled out the Mi 8 phone yesterday and the flagship has got several variants. Aside from the main 8th Anniversary Edition, there is the Mi 8 Explorer and the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. The Xiaomi Mi 8 boasts premium specs with the exception of the Mi 8 SE with a watered-down version of the features. The Explorer variant looks “cool” in the sense you can see what’s inside with its transparent back panel. It’s something like what Zack Nelson (JerryRigEverything) usually makes but Xiaomi’s version is sold out of the box. We didn’t doubt its existence but some people are saying now it could be fake.

One main reason makes sense: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset cannot be in the position as shown off. You see, all other components around are said to be far away from each other. One Chengming Alpert shared on twitter his observations and further noted there is no graphite or other pipe/cable/wire for thermal. This idea disrupts the hype.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 flagship phone comes equipped with a full screen, rear dual camera, in-display fingerprint sensor, face unlocking tech, and the nice-looking transparent back cover. You can see the innards of the phone including the Snapdragon 845 chipset, memory, and other important parts.

We’re not sure what happened here but a source is saying the components are probably not real. The inside of the back appears to be different. Xiaomi may have implemented a different process and design but we know the size and specs are almost the same.

The transparent Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition looks gorgeous in clear black. It’s almost black so it gives off that luxurious and premium feel. Also making this a winner are two other things: the 3D face unlock and the in-display fingerprint technology that is pressure-sensitive. Other features include Snapdragon 845 chipset, AI dual cameras, 3000mAh battery, and the standard Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, WiFi, and the dual-frequency GPS for a more accurate navigation.

Could this transparent Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer phone be fake? There is a possibility but we like how it looks now so we’re wishing and crossing our fingers it is true.
