Yet another Facebook-owned app is getting an update. The popular instant-messaging app now gets a desktop version so more people can communicate with their circles. It’s no longer solely for the mobile phone, anyone can download the app and use it on their desktop computers. There are workplaces where smartphone use is not allowed but if you are in front of the computer the whole day, you can still choose to download the WhatsApp desktop version so you can communicate with family and friends.

WhatsApp desktop app is currently available for Mac OS version 10.9 and above and Windows 8+ only. It’s actually synced with the mobile device but the app runs natively on the computer. As with the mobile version, there’s support for native desktop notifications and keyboard shortcuts.
Download the WhatsApp desktop app from WhatsApp. The app must be installed on your phone running Mac OS X 10.9 or higher.
