We’ve heard of apps and accessories that have been created so you won’t forget things like bags, books, and yes even car keys, inside the car. But have you ever heard of a feature that would actually remind you that you might have left your child in your car? It might seem ridiculous but it is quite a problem in the US with at least 293 cases of children being left in the car from the years 2009-2014.
The fact that 15 of those cases actually resulted in the death of a child is a cause for concern, especially for parents. Navigation app Waze has apparently a new feature coming, already in its beta version, which will remind you to check your backseat whenever you’re about to exit your vehicle, in case you might have forgotten for one reason or another that you still have a child strapped in the backseat.
Of course if you have no actual children or regular children passengers, you’ll be able to turn off this feature by toggling it on or off. You can also customize the message that you’ll see whenever you finish a journey and you’re about to get out of the car. It’s important to keep the message fresh or natural so you won’t ignore it if it becomes too much of a routine already.
This feature is still in Waze’s beta version so you won’t see it if you update your app to the latest version. But let’s hope that it will be release to the stable version soon.
