Year 2016 could be the year when mobile payment will become a standard. This is just a guess but what with all the mobile payment services and features being introduced lately, the idea of cashless shopping sans swiping a credit card must be getting to the mobile users and more establishments. Why, it’s more convenient and easier to use compared to credit cards. Walmart is jumping into the bandwagon by launching its very own mobile payment system called Walmart Pay.

It’s wise that Walmart just added the word “Pay” so as not to deviate from the popular ones. There’s Google Pay, Android Pay, Samsung Pay, and LG Pay. While those are tech companies, Walmart is a large retail shopping chain that has a lot of stores across the United States and in some parts of the world. With Walmart Pay, you can use any Android or iOS device to pay for your goods. While Android Pay is mainly exclusive to Android phones and Samsung Pay and LG Pay are exclusive to Samsung and LG phones, respectively, Walmart Pay is available for almost everyone. Just download the app from Google Play Store or the App Store, register an account, and enter all your cards from credit to debit to prepaid or even that Walmart gift card.

The mobile payments solution will be initially available in select Walmart stores. Using such payment system will benefit not just the consumers and shoppers but also the retail chain who spends a number of resources when using the traditional system. Walmart Pay is fast and secure. No need to bring out your credit card, gift card, or rewards card because everything is saved on your phone. Imagine the amount of time you spend at the cashier when checking out. With Walmart Pay, you only need to tap on a terminal to pay. No more swiping or signing a slip. It’s that easy.

Walmart receives about 140 million shoppers across all stores every week. There’s the Walmart app that’s already being used by 22 million customers and the addition of Walmart Pay will certainly be beneficial.
