The old adage “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” is now always followed by the digital community, particularly since everything evolves so quickly in this world. And so the developers of the VSCO app, one of the more popular camera and photo editing apps out there, have decided to do a major redesign and add several new features, like using gestures to navigate and also focusing not just on creation but also on discovery. However, not everyone seems to be pleased with the changes.

The update allows you to “navigate seamlessly” between various sections in the app that may be the most important to you. With the use of a gesture that is tied to a globe icon, you can swipe in various directions to get to your saved images, your camera, your social feed, and the search section for when you need inspiration or you just want to look at pretty pictures. The editing interface which is where most people go to has not changed that much, although from the comments the update has received, you would think they overhauled it as well.

As with major changes that occur in apps that people regularly use, not everyone was too happy with the update, as seen in the comments on the app page and what people were tweeting about the update. Maybe it’s just resistance to change, or maybe it really is the fact that the redesign has made the app not that intuitive anymore. The gestures for one, are a bit different from the usual gestures UI that we see in other app so it might take time to adjust to that.

But of course if you’re a true blue VSCO fan, you might want to check it out and maybe you’ll see the benefits of the update. They even have a Snapchat-like surprise for you if you use the front-facing camera to take pictures within the app. The update is slowly rolling out to users so check your Play Store page to see if it’s already arrived for your device.
