Viber may be one of the most popular messaging apps out there, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfect (far from it). As with a lot of apps out there, there’s always room for improvement, and consumers “demand” it actually from them. The latest version of Viber, version 5.5 for Android, brings several new things like animated stickers, easier sharing options, as well as make existing things better, like improved video calls, and the app version for secondary devices like tablets, PCs, etc.

First off, let’s look at the improvements. The video call interface has actually been changed, and you now have more “intuitive triggers” to initiate a call from the contacts’ profile to the recent calls list. Viber also says that the quality of both voice and video calls have been improved but at the same time, preserves low data consumption by adapting data usage to the network quality of the user. The Viber app for Android also now has an improved interface while the desktop versions can also now enjoy Viber public chats and other features previously unavailable to them.

Other new features with this update includes the ability to share contacts as a message (including name and photo), a visual preview of URL links shared to you (just to make sure the links aren’t spammy or NSFW), and the ever fun animated stickers (including their most popular characters like Violet, Freddie, Eve, etc, plus the characters of Inside Out).

Viber 5.5 is now rolling out to various users worldwide. You can check if it has arrived on your device through its Google Play Store page.
