If you prefer to be on prepaid subscription rather than the usual postpaid on your carrier, you sometimes don’t get to enjoy all the perks that the latter group get. But now US carrier Verizon has announced that starting September 25, even those customers on prepaid accounts can actually have HD Voice, as long as the device they’re using of course is compatible to the service. If your device can’t have that, they have a whole range of devices in case you think it’s time to upgrade already.
Of course it’s the newer Android devices that are capable of enjoying improved sound quality when making phone calls through HD Voice. Quality and clarity are improved because it’s using the 4G LTE network which they say is ranked number 1 by RootMetrics for overall network performance. The service also includes video calls, WiFi calling, 6-way calling, and letting you surf the web even as you talk with someone, in case you need more information for your conversation.
To start video calls over HD Voice, you just need to tap once on the screen. But of course it also has to be with someone using a Verizon HD Voice-capable device as well. As for WiFi calling, you can make calls from any hotspot in the world. And if the number you’re calling is in the US, it’s free. But if you’re calling an international number, then it will be billed at the standard international long distance rate.
In case the phone you’re using now is not compatible with the HD Voice service, Verizon has a wide range of Android smartphones that can help you with that. Check out their website for a list of all the compatible smartphones you can avail as a prepaid subscriber.
