US carrier Verizon is now the official wireless service provider of the National Basketball Association, more popularly known as the NBA of course. Not only will their logo be prominently displayed in all the marketing efforts of the league, as well as the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), NBA Development League (NBA D-League) and USA Basketball (USAB), they will also be partnering to bring more basketball-related and league content to their go90 mobile video service.
“Extensive” NBA content will be available for go90 subscribers which include daily highlights since the new season has just recently started, original content, as well as access to games that are not part of the league or out of the market through the NBA League Pass. What’s more, the go90 users, just like with other video content on the service, will be able to cut several select clips and then share them through Facebook, Twitter, and even SMS. Basketball fans will also be able to look forward to original content like documentaries, interviews, etc.
Verizon will also be the title partner of the NBA in the 2016 All Star Slam Dunk competition, which will of course be called the “Verizon Slam Dunk”. The carrier will also be the presenting partner for the All-Star Balloting Program and a partner in the NBA Draft, NBA Summer League and the Jr. NBA. As for the WNBA, they will be a marquee partner. All NBA digital assets, like the websites, apps, etc will integrate Verizon, and national broadcast partners like ABC, ESPN, and TNT will do so as well.
“As one of the country’s leading mobile providers, we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Verizon on their go90 platform to deliver a new mobile experience for NBA fans,” NBA President, Global Media Distribution Bill Koenig says. He also said that they will be able to reach fans that they never reached before through Verizon’s vast network.
