Brave souls who have volunteered to be part of Motorola‘s soak test intended for the DROID RAZR HD had a surprise waiting for them. The update they are supposed to test actually contained the update that almost everyone is waiting for: Android 4.4.2.
It’s been almost a month since Motorola revealed that the 2012 DROID family, particularly the HD and the M, will be getting their KitKat update in a few weeks. Those weeks have gone by and it seems that the update will soon be upon owners, except if any major release blocker has been found.
Motorola gave out invites for volunteers to soak test an update for the RAZR HD specifically. Little did these testers know, though hope they surely have, that they will actually be getting their hands on the awaited Android 4.4.2 update. This fact was confirmed by a number of XDA members who have were able to sign up for the test.
Those who missed out on the chance to test the update can still do so, though unofficially and without guarantees, not that an official test build would have guarantees anyway. It’s important to note that this soak test update is only intended for Verizon’s model, specifically the DROID RAZR HD XT926 and should not be tested on any other variant.
