AT&T has always believed that people must be connected all the time. With this in mind, the mobile carrier is announcing a new service called NumberSync that allows a user to link his devices to just one mobile number. The idea is to be able to use one main number from different devices like a smartphone, tablet, or a smartwatch. This means that yeah, it’s okay now even if you don’t bring your phone or forget it when you leave the house because you’re still connected to your network from another device.
You family, friends, and workmates can reach you anytime now because you have no reason not to be accessible. Forgot to charge your phone? Bring your tablet with you. Going out for a run but waiting for an important call? Strap a smartwatch on your wrist and wait for your wearable to receive a notification and answer an incoming call.
This new service works over AT&T’s wireless network. You don’t even need a Bluetooth connection to be able to sync the messages and notifications. The carrier will directly send all voice calls and messages to your dedicated number. You just need one number to be reachable by everyone on multiple devices–different devices but not two different phones.
AT&T’s NumberSync will roll out before October ends, unfortunately, on just one unspecified phone. It will be the first for AT&T but expect more models to be supported in the coming months. The carrier is also working on manufacturers to bring the feature and make it a standard in their future phones.
AT&T is still planning to add more features to bring the user more mobile freedom. The company hopes to connect everyone even without having to pick up the phone because he can make a call or send a txt from different devices.
The future of connected devices seems to be clearer now with AT&T. Let’s just wait and see how efficient and reliable the mobile network will be when it comes to “connecting” those devices.
