Boxer for Android Material Design

Following the footsteps of most apps in the market, Boxer for Android is getting a Material Design update. This is the biggest update so far since the app was launched for Android. App was actually redesigned from the ground up so you can say it’s like a totally new app. The Material Design guidelines revealed by Google certainly has helped app developers provide an enhanced mobile experience.

With this app update, you will see a new floating action button, updated color and style on the toolbar and status bar, and circular avatars. You will also see a new icon set plus a full height navigation drawer is very noticeable. The app looks more beautiful now if you’ve been an avid Boxer app user. The Boxer team followed the Material Design elements carefully so it’s only natural that many fixes and upgrades were made. The Boxer developers listed all the fixes in a blog but the most important ones include improvements made to IMAP syncing, faster Gmail mail searching, battery usage enhancements, updated translations, and some more app speed improvements.

This particular update is good news for Cyanogen users because the version will be delivered to them as the first OTA update from Boxer. This also means more regular design updates, new features, and bug fixes from the developers of the email inbox app. Watch out for regular app updates for a better mobile email inbox app experience.

The Boxer team may have taken a while to update the app but it’s here now and everything is worth the wait. Other improvements also included added support for max HTML body truncation EAS policy, and more secured ConversationView using Content Security Policy (CSP). You can also now create a new folder or label from the Folder Selection Dialog on the app. Pop3 support has now been added when you’re adding an account via AccountManager.
