The Alcatel OneTouch line of smartphones always get new models to show off. The Idol phones have new siblings in the form of the OneTouch Idol 4 and OneTouch Idol 4S. The latest product offerings were spotted on Alcatel’s website earlier today but were quickly pulled out. Perhaps whoever managing the site made a mistake of posting the new products ahead of the official launch.
We’re expecting the official unveiling will happen at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona starting February 21. The support pages for the smartphones listed the specs. The OneTouch Idol 4 will have a 5.2-inch display screen, 1080 by 1920 pixel resolution, Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, microSD card for memory expansion, 8MP front-facing camera, 13MP main cam, and a 2610 mAh battery. The midrange will be super light at only 130g.
There’s also the larger OneTouch IDOL 4S which we can expect will arrive with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED screen, 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution, 1.8GHz + 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, microSD card, and a 3,000mAh battery. When it comes to imaging, the Alcatel phone will use a 16MP rear camera and the same 8MP selfie shooter. The IDOL 4S is obviously the amped version of the IDOL 4.
The yet-to-announced Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 4 and IDOL 4 will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. We have no details on pricing and availability but most Alcatel OneTouch IDOL smartphones are priced below $300–still within the midrange phone category.
i actually like this brand now (not before due to past experiences) because their products can be cheap but the quality is great. i like the front facing speakers too. now about those ugly icons…
Good 4 Rooting, hasn’t been write protected or locked bootloader previously, for those of us to whom ‘Google’ is a verb rather than an eavesdropper.
