The excitement over Android 6.0 Marshmallow may not have been as big as that of last year’s Lollipop 5.0, but that doesn’t mean that people are not excited about upgrading their devices to the latest version. But as with our past experiences with Google, it is a long and complicated process to get the update to us, since they have to work with OEMs and carriers as well. Samsung is one of the OEMs and with a lot of products in the market, their users have begun the long wait.

The problem is that Samsung almost never makes a formal announcement when it comes to these things. This is pretty understandable since when you set an official date, people hold you to it. And if you fail to meet that, people get upset. And more often than not, there are some delays or some devices that have been previously announced may to be upgraded, and other complications.

But some people over on SAM Mobile have managed to use their Samsung-rich resources to get “insider information” as to which devices will be upgraded. As expected, the list, which of course is preliminary, includes the flagship devices from last year like the Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, and of course the current ones like Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, and Galaxy Note 5.

If your device isn’t on the list yet, don’t get so worried as Android 5.0 Lollipop came to a lot of smartphones and tablets. So most probably, Android 6.0 Marshmallow will likewise do the same. It’s just that their priority right now is to get the update to the newer devices. Click on the link for the complete list.

  1. I used to look forward to updates thinking they will make a huge difference in my Samsung devices but the last update that impressed me was Ice cream sandwich. All the others have been anticlimactic. At this point I just want security updates to keep my phone from hackers.

  2. They’d better do something about it as Lollipop has a lot of bugs on my Note 3. If Sammy have no plans to update the firmware for those who are still using Note 3, then I’ll just jump to my Lumia 920 which currently running on Windows 10 Tech. Preview :p

  3. If it would make the GPS on my Note 3 work properly in Melbourne I’d be happy. Every time I stop at a red light it thinks I’ve suddenly done a U-Turn and decides to adjust the route, or it simply points the blue Maps arrow off in one random direction and orients the screen the wrong way so I can’t bloody tell where to go without manually twisting it around again and swiping to keep the screen showing me where to go next.

  4. Verizon Samsung customers will receive Marshmallow probably 2nd quarter of 2016! They are trying to speed things up! I guess with Marshmallow there are lot of features that have to be remove!
