Huawei is an unlikely OEM to release a luxury smartwatch, but as we saw at the recently World Mobile Congress, it’s something that’s not just possible but something they did well. The Huawei Watch became one of the most talked-about new devices, but people were speculating about how much it would cost because it looked and seemed expensive. While there is no official price or release date in the US, some Europe-based retailers can give us an idea of its price range.

German retailer Billinger was seen giving off a 349 Euro price tag for the regular Huawei Watch, but if you want the gold one, you’d have to add another 50 Euros. If you convert that to dollars, that’s around $370 and $400 respectively. Meanwhile, UK retailer Mobile Fun have confirmed that they’re selling silver and black models of the smartwatch for £300 while the gold model will be at £350. Again, if converted to US dollars, that will be between $400-$450.

That is quite a sigh of relief for those who want to actually get one, because initial estimates pegged it as high as $1,200, but it looks like it may just be a third of that price. And if that will be the range in US dollars, then having a nifty 1.4-inch round-faced with a 400×400 pixel, 286 ppi resolution Android smartwatch that looks like your normal luxury watch is a pretty good deal.

Unfortunately, the OEM still has not announced if it will be arriving in the North American market anytime soon. It might not be ready yet to compete with the likes of Samsung, LG, and the growing number of smartwatch makers. But let’s hope it does reach these shores so we can see if it’s as good as it looks.
