Admit it, you’ve always wanted to do something “magical” when you swish your smartphone in the air, like unleash a light saber or maim your enemy with it or something. Well, you still won’t get an actual weapon, but if you own a 2014 edition of the Moto X, you can actually do something cool with it. A new feature allows you to open your smartphone’s flashlight with just a few martial arts-style gestures.

Okay, you don’t have to actually learn karate or wushu. But getting your flashlight to turn on will be as easy as double chopping your phone in the air. Not actually chopping your phone into two, but just making some chopping motions, like you’re cutting some kind of meat on a cooking show. Chopping down twice will turn on the flashlight, without having to open the launcher. And when you’re done using it, just do the same thing again and it will automatically turn off.

This may seem like a minor thing, but it is important for those emergency moments when you suddenly need a light, and you don’t need to fumble in the dark just to open it. To activate it, just head on to your settings and under Actions, you’ll find the option there.

However, it is only available for the 2014 Moto X and only if you’re already updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop. Motorola will probably eventually also include it in future updates to other lines, like the Moto G and Moto E.
